This morning, students and staff at Waverly Yowell Elementary were treated to a rousing assembly filled with chocolate, confetti, and Oompa-Loompas to kick off the new one school, one book program featuring the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl.  Special appearances from Dr. Eberhardt as Wiilly Wonka, and school board members, Mr. Carmichael and Mr. Utz as Oompa-Loompas were enjoyed by all.  After the unwrapping of the students Waverly Bars, which turned out to be a copy of the book, twenty students were surprised with golden tickets!  The golden ticket winners were seating in the VIP section, enjoying a front row seat to all the crazy antics and games.  After Willy Wonka read the first two chapters of the book and he and his Oompa-loompas dolled out chocolate bars, and four games were played with five students each.  The first game, lickable wallpaper was our longest lasting game, and was won by 5th grade golden ticket winner, Ashton .  Chocolate kiss, our second game, was quickly won by 3rd grader, Braiden G.  Our third game, the blueberry squeeze, was won in record time by 5th grader, MacKensie S.  The unlucky winner of our last game, good egg/bad egg, was 3rd grader, Victoria W.  Overall the students had a blast!
